Body Excitement!
Loved when Jason said, “This is what I have to work with and I’m totally excited about it!” (Women’s Bodies: Part 1) I’ve NEVER thought of it that way. Being EXCITED about my body. At best, I’m usually like, “Well, this is what I have to work with. I guess I’ll figure something out.” It made me see, yet again, how much I relate my self-worth to what my body looks like on whatever particular day I’m judging myself, which is usually everyday. If my body looks good that day, then I can feel good. If my body does not look good that day, then I probably shouldn’t feel good because that only makes sense, right? WRONG! Taking what Jason said, the idea of being excited with what you have to work with, everything about our bodies is exciting and new. Our bodies are unique vessels that we get to express ourselves with. So if one day you wake up notice “I’m feeling a little bloated today?” or “Hmmm, these pants didn’t used to be this tight?” or even “Why is my scale 10 pounds off this morning?”, it’s all exciting. It’s all the experience of having a body. As we’ve already heard, it’s not hard to turn men’s head so we don’t have to worry about that. If you could literary be EXCITED, not OK with or even accepting but EXCITED about the parts of your body you would never be excited about (you know the parts I’m talking about) what would be that like for you? What would you be excited about?
